►The
Imaging Core of the UC Irvine Core
Center for Hearing and Communication
Research was established in 2007 to
provide state-of-the-art technology and
expertise for imaging neurons in fixed
or live tissue.
The Core
features a 2-photon imaging system that
was “home-made” for greater flexibility
and performance, and for significant
cost savings, over commercial models.
The system
is capable of real-time imaging with
high spatial resolution.

Center for Hearing Research Multi-Photon
Imaging Facility

►
After ~1.5 years of development and
operation, the facility is functional
and serving multiple users.
The microscope is being used to
image neurons in a variety of fixed- and
live-tissue preparations, e.g., after
transport of fluorescent markers or
after immunofluorescent labeling.
